Complete Guide to Growing Marijuana Outdoors

Getting a good location for growing marijuana outdoors

Before you can begin growing marijuana outdoors you should find an appropriate place to farm your plants. The garden should be placed in a location where people are not likely to discover it.

Gorse bushes, mud, water and steep hills are all people deterrents. Growing near young evergreens also helps conceal your plants in the Autumn when surrounding flora are going brown and weed stays green.

Marijuana needs plenty of light. Your grow site should have at least 3 hours of direct sunshine every day. Pot will grow the speediest with approximately 5 1/2 hours of exposure daily. The least sunshine the pot gets the less fast the growth and less the harvest.

If there is less than three and a half hours of direct sunlight at the marijuana patch then aluminium foil may be put around the cannabis to reflect more light on the foliage. In a low light area this will make a large difference. Marijuana also appear to respond better to morning light than afternoon sunshine. Keep this in mind when choosing your spot for growing marijuana outdoors. Do not plant your  weed seeds straight into earth. Start the weed seeds at home and replant seedlings outside.

The growing soil is without doubt an important consideration when deciding upon a grow site. Marijuana prefers a growing medium that drains well and has a pH of about 6.5. Marijuana earth should clump when you compress it and crumble with ease when you poke it. Sand, or perlite may be added to earth that simply don’t drain well. The ph of the earth should also be kept around 6.5.

If the Ph is too high then the pot will not be able to absorb nutrients properly. Low pH produces more males to be produced. The pH can be made higher by putting in hydrated lime. The lime is slow working so use it during the Autumn or minimum one month before sowing. pH can be dropped by adding sodium bicarbonate to the earth.

The level of the water table at the cannabis site is also important. If the level of water is too high and the earth is soaked the weed roots will not receive enough oxygen and decline. If the water level is way down then the earth will dry out rapidly and you’ll have to water more frequently. If the earth is too drenched then the plants should be grown in pots. The larger the better. The pot ought to have a one inch layer of sand for proper drainage. The remainder of the pot should be filled with good growing earth.

A near source of good clean water is also useful. If no water is available in the surrounding area for watering then large water containers should be partly buried. They will collect enough rainwater for watering. If you have to convey water to the weed site then do it night-time and water the next morning. Watering after dark or at sundown will double the chance of creating a fungus problem. Any tools needed for watering or garden maintenance ought to be left hidden at the plot.

Grazing animals love to eat tender pot plants and if you don’t desire your weed to be eaten then you have to take action. Human blood and hair around the place can help. If you would rather put up some kind of fence. When the marijuana plants are small a clear glass can be put on top of them to retain humidity and to keep grazing animals out.

Getting the optimum cannabis seeds

Cultures have been growing marijuana outdoors for centuries and, subsequently, countless types can be used by a grower. There are many professional seedbanks that sell plenty of  marijuana seeds.

Be certain to obtain a marijuana strain that will survive in your part of the world. In accordance to the time of the first frost choose a marijuana strain that will finished flowering before then. If you are doing it for profit then the final crop is something to watch out for. The plants with biggest yields are grown near the equator where the sun is hotter and the growing season is longer. If these marijuana types are used they should be grown in a greenhouse in the North.

After choosing your weed seeds and the grow site is ready you can start sprouting the ganja seeds. There are only two approaches to get the seeds started: planting the ganja seeds in the earth, or, germinating the weed seeds in kitchen roll and transferring them into small pots.

To commence the weed seeds take a small sharp stick and push it twelve centimetres into the earth. Drop 1 pot seed into the hole. The pot seed ought to be covered gently with soil and watered with a mild mixture of fertilizer with high phosphorous values. Leave a mark where the pot seed was put so you don’t lose track.

Give every marijuana seed 3 sq feet of room. Otherwise when they grow into mature marijuana plants they will crowd each other and growth will be held back. It is vital to make sure the soil doesn’t get too dry at this point in time. When the dirt appears parched water with good water. The first shoots and cotyledon will be apparent in a week. Keep the earth moist when the ground feels dry and after six to eight days the first appearance of recognisable leaves will become evident.

If you want to sprout in strong tissue then get a flat pan and cover it with three paper towels. Soak them completely and place the marijuana seeds out on the paper towel. Cover with another three paper towels and wrap the whole deal with plastic wrap. Put it in a warm dark spot. Check every day for new sprouts and do not let the absorbent paper towels dry out.

Once the white root on a new plant is 1/4 inch long then it can be put in the Jiffy-pot. The Jiffy-pot should be filled with the same dirt as the marijuana plant is to be reared in permanently. Insert a sharp stick 2 cm into the grow mixture. Gently lower the young sprout with the white root into the hole and cover loosely with soil. Dampen with a fertilizer with plenty of phosphorus. Keep the earth moist.

Within a week the the first leaves will become apparent followed by the characteristic marijuana leaves six to seven days later.

Growth and removing males (sexing marijuana)

Now the plants will be on one or more nodule of recognisable leaves. Add water if the growing medium seems dryish. Make sure your marijuana plants are secure from herbivores. Also, keep an eye out for mould. Any marijuana plants with mould detectable should be disposed of at once.

Be careful not to shake the plants because the mould spores will spread and effect plants in the vicinity. If you’re using Jiffy-pots, transfer when the fourth manifestation of characteristic leaves comes into existence. Once the plants have developed six or seven nodes they need to be fertilized with a 20-20-20 fertilizer.

The young marijuana plants can also be sexed at this stage. To determine this, a piece of a black plastic garbage bag can be put on to the end of a branch using twist ties. Alter the black rubbish bag so that the branch gets twelve hrs of sunlight and twelve hrs of no light.  In approximately twenty one days the male marijuana plants will have what looks like little balls growing on the branch. The feminized marijuana plants will have 2 tiny white hairs developing from a young calyx.

The males can now be disposed of and you are guaranteed a crop of non male plants. Get rid of the black bin bag from the branch of the non male plant and it will resume growing once more.

The Growing Period

The plants ought to be by now be well rooted. Add water when the growing medium feels dry approximately three inches under the growing medium. Spray gently with bug killer and do it again after it rains.

Fertilize the marijuana every 3 or so weeks. If the marijuana enjoy plenty of sunlight and receives all the nutrients and water they need, then it is most common for the plants to grow up to 5 centimetres each day.

If signs of insufficient nutrition be noticeable, consult the nutrient chart for causes and the answer. Don’t not to over fertilize. The growing medium ph can be tested again now. The PH should be lower than it was before transplanting. Most fertilizers lower the Ph when they lose their nutrient value. If the Ph is under 6.2 water with wood ashes until the pH returns to 6.5.

As the weed plant gets older its roots become less good at getting nutrients for the maturing plant. You should begin spraying the leaves at this time, that is applying a fertilizer/water mix right onto the plant. Green growth absorbs nutrients in the same capacity as roots. When you’ve gone to foliar feed then reduce the fertilizer to 1/2 amount.

Get a top-of-the-line sprayer and put it to to fine mist. Foliar feeding ought to be performed before the sun gets up too high when the leaves stomas (pores) are open. When the sun gets too high the stomata will not be open at all. The marijuana leaves need to be finely sprayed with a plant food mix.

Don’t overdo the cannabis foliage. The day after spraying the leaves the cannabis foliage need to be misted with clear water to remove surface traces of nutrients from the cannabis foliage.

Some pruning will probably be required at this stage. Some pruning prevents branching out and helps regulate the marijuana’s dimensions. Some pruning will probably not be advisable for some cannabis breeds. Other cannabis breeds focus more growth around the trunk and cutting back will probably be required to encourage more female flower producing branches.

Some pruning is a good way for increasing bud and keeping cannabis short and less easy to be detected. Trim with very sharp sterilized scissors. When pruning the branch 2 additional shouts will start growing from that node. Remember don’t cut away more than fifteen cm of branch when you are pruning.

The creation of buds

Flowering is triggered in pot plants when the time of continuous darkness becomes a required measurement. The real amount differs from cannabis plant to cannabis plant but an estimate is twelve hrs sunlight and 12 hours dark.

Be mindful should you check your garden during the night. Any light, even that from a feeble weak torch light will kill the hormones that results in flower growth and the cannabis will regress to plant growth. If you should tend in the dark do not use lamps. Much better to visit in day light hours.

If you removed the male plants beforehand, the bulk of work is completed. However, if the male plants are still around you should keep looking out for them. Once you are able to figure out the plant’s sex, the male plants must be taken out to disallow it from infecting females. At the time male marijuana plants start to show soon after the female plants start to appear.

At this point feeding must be minimized and used at 1/4 strength. Marijuana needs large amounts of phosphorus while developing buds. Use a fertilizer that is greater in phosphorus .

Time to harvest and dry

By now the female buds will be developing very quickly. The time to harvest the crop is when three-quarters of the  white pistil hairs have turned brown. Study the resin formed in crystals on the newer leaves with a magnifying glass. The resin crystals ought to have an amber appearance right before you cut the plants. If they are still clear the resin has yet to reach full strength. If they are still brown that means the resin is past and strength is declining rapidly.

Prune away the branches and put them in breathable bags. Remove the large leaves from lower down – they are unsuitable as they have no potency. Careful not to bang the cannabis plants with force because the resin with THC might fall off.

Proceed by eliminating all the large foliage and gradually work down the stems to the buds.  The delicate cuttings around the pot buds will lose moisture, then put in a plastic freezer bag and put in the freezer compartment.  Trimming is over when only the pot buds are left.

Hang up the pot buds in a dark and draught free place and maintain at around room climate.  The drop in weight will be about 70 – 80% which can turn the the room you are drying in almost certainly humid.  Slight draughts or change in climate will introduce mildew which may decay the pot buds.

Keep a check on things every day.  After several days when the pot buds are moisture-less, they can be removed from the stalks. Once the cannabis buds are bagged, remove the excess air and close-up. Store in a cool, dark space.  For longer term storage, put the pot buds in a freezer.
